The Time to Talk Day 2020 takes place on Thursday 6 February and highlights the need for everyone to be more open about mental health.

Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet too many people are made to feel isolated, ashamed and worthless because of this.

For employees working in the manufacturing industry, typical long-term health conditions have been back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders, but stress and mental health disorders are now the main cause of absence for one in four companies.

At Yewdale, the health and wellbeing of all of our employees sits at the heart of our business. It is our duty to encourage and promote physical and mental health wellbeing in the workplace.

We have invested in an employee assistance programme which provides counselling and expert support on personal or work-related problems via a confidential helpline. The line is available to support our employee’s mental wellbeing any time of the day or night.

We also encourage our employees to take part in social and fun day events bringing everyone from the office to the factory together in a relaxed and stress-free environment. From charity bike rides through to barbecues and bake offs, we inspire to have a healthy and happy workforce.

So, let’s start addressing the stigma of mental health together - talking, listening and changing lives for the better.
