Our customers work on many different commercial projects from schools to offices so it wasn’t a strange request to install blinds at a signal box in Ashford.

With over 100 staff working at the signal box monitoring all the trains across the South Eastern network, the box was in need of some stylish blackout blinds which would be easy to operate and could cover their huge windows.

Max Kirby from The Blind Company Kent measured up and knew that the YewdaleDefiant® C27 electric cassette blind with a 230V motor would be perfect for the job.

Case Study - Ashford signal box

The cassette range encapsulates our standard roller the R20 in a sleek and stylish headbox which protects the fabric and helps to keep it clean so it very low maintenance blind.  The hidden barrel in the cassette blind is popular as it makes the headbox look part of the wall or ceiling.

With many different mechanism options available such as chain, spring, crank or electric, Max knew that an electric motor would provide ease of use and a hardwired motor wouldn’t interfere with the signal box communications.

The project only took 4 hours to fit and was very straightforward.  Max has been using Yewdale for about 6 years now and wouldn’t recommend any other products saying “I always use Yewdale, you are very helpful, delivery to site is continually on time and the quality of your blinds is very good.  I have no issues at all which is very rare with a manufacturer”.
