We all know how easy it is to get caught up in our own routines and responsibilities. However, we also know that we have a collective responsibility to help make the world a better place, not only for ourselves, but for future generations.
Whether through environmental sustainability, community outreach, or charitable efforts, the way we contribute can have a lasting impact. At Yewdale, we fully believe in giving back to the communities that have supported our growth. We’ve put this belief into action through our volunteering initiatives and ongoing efforts to support amazing local causes.
Making time to give back
Of course, one of the biggest barriers to volunteering is simply finding the time. Between work commitments and family responsibilities, it’s easy for this sort of thing to take a back seat. It’s something many of us feel guilty about, but realistically, it can often feel like there’s just not enough time in the day. That’s why Yewdale implemented a volunteer day policy in early 2025, so employees could make a real difference to our community without having to sacrifice personal time.
We understand the value of investing in both our people and the community. Our HR department actively develops new ways to make Yewdale an appealing, supportive place to work, and our volunteer day scheme plays a key role in that. Under this policy, every employee is offered one paid day per year to volunteer for a local cause that’s important to them. The scheme allows staff to contribute to causes they care about, while strengthening Yewdale’s ties to the local community.
By creating time for volunteering, we encourage employees to give back – but we also help cultivate a sense of purpose and pride in being part of something bigger than themselves. It’s part of our broader commitment to making Yewdale a company where people feel valued, not just as employees, but as important members of a strong, powerful team with a shared vision.
Volunteering in action
One of the standout examples of our volunteer initiative in action was when three Yewdale team members – Anais, Tyler, and Roy – selflessly volunteered their time at Stansted Airport as part of an emergency healthcare event led by RRT Global. The event had two important goals: showing appreciation for the tireless work of emergency services personnel, and demonstrating RRT Global’s capability to respond effectively and efficiently in the event of a major incident.
The volunteers supported the delivery of freshly prepared hot meals to staff and emergency responders. However, it wasn’t just about the food; it was about coming together as a community to support those who are always there in times of need, and often put their lives at risk to save others.
Roy, who is frequently praised by customers for his helpfulness and positive attitude, embodies the kind of dedication Yewdale takes pride in. But while Roy’s outstanding commitment to going above and beyond has made him a popular figure among our clients, it’s important to recognise that this level of dedication isn’t just found in one person. Roy is part of a fantastic team here at Yewdale, who all share the same passion for doing truly great things. Our people are working hard behind the scenes every day to make sure we’re not just meeting expectations, but exceeding them.
Supporting our community
While volunteering at Stansted Airport was a key moment, it’s by no means the only way Yewdale is giving back to our community. We’re proud to be a part of the local Essex community which has played such a vital role in our success. We’re committed to being a responsible neighbour, and an active participant in the region’s ongoing development and the well-being of its residents.
One way we’re making a positive impact is through our commitment to environmental sustainability. As part of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, Yewdale generates surplus electricity from the solar panels installed on our factory rooftop, which we then feed back into the National Grid. This contributes to the UK’s renewable energy efforts and helps reduce our environmental impact.
We also take an active role in the Essex Business Community, a network of local organisations working together to support growth, collaboration, and regional development. By joining forces with other businesses, we strengthen the area and contribute to the success of our local economy.
At Yewdale, we understand the importance of playing a positive role in the local area, not just as an employer but as a neighbour that genuinely cares about the future of the community. From sustainability initiatives to community outreach, we’re always looking for ways to make a difference.
Why volunteering matters
Volunteering is more than just a company initiative; it’s an integral part of who we are as a business.
At Yewdale, we believe in giving back, not just for the benefit of the community, but also for the personal fulfilment and growth of our employees. Our volunteer days programme strengthens our connection to the community. It also helps to make Yewdale a place where employees are proud to work, knowing that their company is committed to making the world a better place.
