Please read:  Important change to your discount

Whilst it is good news that the UK economy has bounced back since Covid-19 restrictions have eased and global trade is making a rapid recovery, manufacturers such as Yewdale are unfortunately experiencing significant supply chain disruptions resulting in longer supply lead times and a rapid rise in raw material prices.

Shipping delays

There are a number of factors causing global supply chain issues:

  • Covid-19 - Although the UK has seen a significant decrease in reported infections and deaths, there are still 35 countries across the world where infections are rising.
  • Suez canal blockage - Economists and global supply chain experts predict the impact of the Suez blockage will continue to reverberate through the global supply chain for a minimum of a further 60 days, the knock-on effects including port congestion, displaced vessels and containers.
  • Brexit - Post-Brexit shipments are more complicated under dual-customs regimes which have caused a critical build-up of containers at UK ports. Coupled with a lack of berths, shortage of equipment and skilled staff.
  • Port strikes - Canada and North America port strikes are impacting lead time and availability of shipments from the United States.

We realise the above factors are having a direct impact on our ability to produce your products and deliver them in the timely manner that you have come to expect from us. We are doing all we can to mitigate any delays and our teams are working round the clock to ensure shipments reach us as soon as they can. Your account manager will be in touch with you if your order does experience a delay.

The rise in raw materials

Together with the logistical challenges we are facing, we are also experiencing a number of substantial prices increases for raw materials. From aluminium profiles to cardboard packaging, prices have rapidly increased over the past few months. Whilst we have absorbed these rises to keep our prices favourable to our customers, we, unfortunately, can’t sustain this going forward and we will be reducing any pre-set discounts by 7.65% across our whole product range. Fortunately, being a UK manufacturer we have been able to keep this global price disruption to a minimum.  We have not taken this decision lightly and will continue to review the situation over the coming months.

This revision to discounts will come into effect from Monday 10th May 2021 and will apply to any proposals already quoted prior to this date.
